Roger Daltrey takes Tommy on the road in the UK

Tommy

We can presume Pete doesn't fancy it - going on tour with the Tommy album that is.

Roger Daltrey has announced that he's taking the Who's' concept / rock opera all over the UK in July. No Pete Townshend in sight, but he will be on tour with Simon Townshend, Pete's younger brother. Saying that, Townshend senior has given his blessing and support to the project. So no hard feelings around.

Fancy going? See over the page for full tour dates, with tickets going on sale on Friday April 29th at 9am at all the usual agents. Yes, you'll have to cancel that bank holiday lie-in.

Soul Jazz to release Delta Swamp Rock - where rock, country and soul collide

Delta

Beards? Country? Soul? Rock? Yep, Delta Swamp Rock from Soul Jazz seems to tick all the hipster boxes right now - and it's available to buy from next week.

The album is briefly described as the 'definitive guide to the music of the southern states of USA created between 1968 - 1975', throwing in weighty 68-page book with loads of exclusive sleevenotes, photographs and biographies for the real trainspotter.

If you want more details, it's a tale of the musical and cultural links between the towns and cities of Memphis, Muscle Shoals, Nashville, Macon in Georgia and Daytona Beach and Jacksonville in Florida, 'an interstate southern road-trip where country, rock and soul met at the crossroads', says Soul Jazz. Looks like another winner from SJ, not least because it's on vinyl as well as CD. Tracklisting over the page. Pre-orders now being taken at Amazon for £8.99 a pop. Stetsons, botch jeans and pointed boots extra.

Beastie Boys new album - stream Hot Sauce Committee Part Two in full here! Now!

This isn't dodgy, trust us. But you can hear the Beastie Boys new album, which goes by the name of Hot Sauce Committee Part Two below ahead of its actual release.

Why? Well, basically, it leaked online. Rather than get angry about it, the band decided to make an official album stream available ahead of the May 2nd release date. So here it is. That should help to heal those post-bank holiday blues...

When I'm 64 - Iggy Pop one year from his bus pass today

Why does Iggy Pop does those bloody awful insurance ads? Perhaps because he needs to get some cash in his pension fund. Ya' see, the Iggster is 64 years young today, just one year off retirement. If the music industry enforced compulsory retirement that is.

Anyways, raise a glass to the great man if you're near a bar today and enjoy a 'rough around the edges' take on The Passenger from '77 at the Manchester Apollo of all places. Back when he had a tail.
