We'll do our best to list everything relevant - whether it's an upcoming club or event, record releases, live gigs, anything you've seen for sale (fashion, music, merchandise - whatever), interesting clips you've found on YouTube, exhibitions, films, DVDs, books, fanzines, anything you've seen in magazines - if it's likely to be of interest to readers of this site, feel free to send it in.

Double Breasted 1st anniversary issue

The Double Breasted mod fanzine is one year old and to celebrate, there's a couple of competitions and a giveaway of a free CD.

The first anniversary issue of Double Breasted will be on sale at The Glasgow Mod Weekender (from 25th June) and comes with two competitions, including one to win tickets to see Booker T in Perth in July, along with a free CD of 60s-inspired Scottish bands.

Of course, there's also the magazine too, which offers up club news, weekender, gig and record reviews, style and design icons, a sneak preview of Enamel Vergurin's new book, events diary and a whole lot more. Modculture on Twitter

After something of a false start, Modculture is now on Twitter in full effect. And you can follow us by heading here.

Due to previous time constraints, most of our Twitter messages have been news updates so far, but this will change from today, with 'proper' updates (including anything we don't have time to list on the news), general bits and pieces, thoughts - you know the kind of thing. And of course, the news as it happens. We'll also try and follow as many people as we can too.

Double Breasted fanzine issue 3

Good to see the Double Breasted fanzine still going strong - with issue 3 on sale from March 1st.

Now with 32 pages, Issue 3 of Double Breasted includes previews of this years Glasgow Mod Weekender, Mods Mayday 2009 which celebrates 30 years of the Mod Revival, Scooters, Club News, U.S. Films, DNA Groove, Record and Gig Reviews and an extract from Jason Brummell's new book "I Got a Woman." All this and more for only £1.50 + p&p. Note there are still a few copies of issues 1 and 2 available for £1 + p&p.

Wanted: Modculture writer

Fancy writing for this very site? Well, we might just have vacancy.

We're looking for someone to write a couple of news stories every weekday. Ideally we want someone female (as all the current site contributors are male!), have an interest in classic/retro/vintage fashion, an interest in all things mod and most importantly of all, be able to find relevant content and be able to write short news pieces (like the ones on the news site) that are both accurate and hopefully interesting.

We can pay per article, but trust me, you'll be doing it for love as much as money as we can't afford to pay a lot. But there should be a few freebies thrown in for good measure. Oh yes - and you must be UK-based (we can't pay anyone outside the UK).

Interested? Drop us a line with some details about yourself and why you're suitable. We'll then shortlist, ask for a couple of test posts and pick the right person.

Important: Joining the forum

Sadly, the various messages abut joining the forum seem to be being missed right now, so it's time to flag up the one important change re joining the forum.

We do not allow webmail addresses for new users of the forum.

That means you cannot join with an address like Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo or another other webmail address from similar companies. It's not ideal, but the current forum is being spammed to death with applications right now - the only way we can spot genuine people is via genuine addresses.

If that causes you major problems, contact us and we'll try to sort something out. If you have applied with a webmail address of late, your application will have been refused - as will all future applications from webmail and freemail.

Double Breasted fanzine - issue 2

The first issue went down a storm, so it's no surprise to see issue 2 of Double Breasted fanzine.

It will be on sale from 31st October at the cost of £1 + p&p. It's a bigger issue this time, packed full of varied articles of interest to those into Mod and 60s culture. Next year there will be 3 issues, coming out March, July and November, if you're interested in subscribing to issues 2 - 5 it will be at the cover price of £1 per issue so you don't have to worry about any price increases.

Payment can be made by cash/cheque/postal order and paypal, but paypal fees will be added on. Issue 2 and back copies of Issue 1 will be on sale at October's Friday Street and at the Aftershow Party at The Admiral following Paul Weller's Glasgow gig on 14th November. Full feeds return on Modculture

We have had problems with our feeds in the past, but all that is now hopefully sorted and we now have full feeds back on Modculture.

What does that mean Well, if you are signed up for news email, you will get the stories in their entirety (with images) sent to you on every day where new stories appear. And if you read the news via a feed reader, you'll see the full story there.

If you're not signed up to our email, you can join via the box on the right hand side of the site. And you can also subscribe easily to your favourite feed reader using the buttons also to your right.

Reminder: Joining the forum

Just a quick reminder - if you plan on joining the forum, please use a 'real' (not webmail) email address. That means your ISP, college or work address for example and not Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail etc.

We have had problems with hackers and the odd unsuitable comment, meaning we need to know who is using the forum. Apologies for the inconvenience (and for all accounts that have been refused), but it is for the greater good and does cut down on any potential problems.

Double Breasted mod fanzine

The internet is good for many things, but one downside is the negative impact it has had on fanzines. But there are still a few about - and the newest addition is Double Breasted.

Double Breasted promises to be The fanzine for Mod and 60s-inspired cool and should be available to coincide with the Glasgow Mod Weekender, with the fanzine going bi-annually (December/June), then hopefully quarterly.

Co-Editors are Sharon Armit and Jennie Baillie - Sharon has been on the scene for 25 years, with 9 of those being spent in Italy. Perhaps not as active on the scene as Sharon, but a mod of 25 years, Jennie, along with Husband Colin, is part of the Friday Street team and behind the flyers, advertising and pr for the club.

You can pick up the fanzine for £1 at the weekender, them by mail order afterwards (or if you run a club, get in touch if you can help with distribution).
